Better Late Than Never

Twice a year I anticipate Fashion Week. It's always a bittersweet time though because although it signifies brand new collections being shown all over the world, I have never been fortunate enough to attend one. I dream of the day that I will sit inside those white tents at Bryant Park to view my favorite designer's new collection.

For now, I sit in front of my computer to catch all the action that I am missing. Style.com does an amazing job covering all the collections which you can view slide by slide, mark your favorites and drool over for years to come.

Every six months I tell myself that I will keep up with the shows daily so that I don't fall behind and miss any. And every six months, I fail. New York was well over a month ago and I still haven't finished scanning all the collections. London. Paris and Mailan have also past and I've only viewed my usual favorites (i.e. Stella, Lanvin, Burberry, Balenciaga).

So as I slowly go through the rest of the shows, I will post some of my favorite looks and collections.

Summer Music Fix

For quite some time I have had the desire to go to a music festival this year. Throughout the years I have been to about 50 concerts, but have yet to ever attend a multiple day festival. I thought that my dreams had come true when my brother, his friend and I decided to attend Glastonbury this year. You see, U2 will be headlining on his birthday- it was all meant to be. (Plus I was looking forward to rocking a jumpsuit- the only place I feel they are allowed. I had my outfit completely planned in my head).

So for 2 good solid months I was under the impression that we were going; we had mentally planned our entire trip overseas. Then, we learned of another festival, occurring at the same time as Glastonbury, being held at London's Hyde Park. At the time we knew of only Pearl Jam performing. (Which was enough for my brother to attend- of course, I was along for the ride).

My summer holiday was set. I was going to the UK for an amazing musical experience, with a few shopping trips in between, of course. Then, we looked up airfare and our dreams came crashing down. We were already crushed about not being able to attend, and more and more acts are being announced as the days go by- Stevie Wonder, Sir Paul McCartney (Um.. A Beatle?- Really?) and the most heartbreaking- Kings of Leon.

I've officially stopped looking at who will be performing because it makes me sad. We thought about traveling to Nashville and attending Bonnaroo- with an equally amazing line-up, but it falls in line with our family reunion ( seriously?)

So, it looks like I'll be staying on the home front to attend Outsidelands in August to get my festival fix. Looks like Kings should be there so I'm happy.

Maybe next year?

In Love With...

Chris Benz

I've been keeping my eye on him ever since his first collection debuted in 2007 and I heard that he used to work for J. Crew. You can definitely see where he would fit in at that quintessential American brand. His looks tend to mirror the Collection pieces that J. Crew offers much more so than for the knits and chinos that the brand was know for up until 5 years ago.

His pieces are so elegant and yet fun and youthful at the same time. I love how he plays with color and textures. Somehow he even makes the neutrals seem colorful. As powerful and statement making his clothes are, I can't wait for the day that he develops a jewelry line. Imagine the pieces!

Here are some of my favorite looks from his recent Fall 2010 Collection.

"There's A Drumming Noise Inside My Head"

Florence and the Machine's album 'Lungs' has been playing in a non-stop loop on my itouch for the past 2 months. The whole album is so amazing with her disturbing and hopeful lyrics. There is both a cynicism and an optimism in the album that just works. I love this video for 'Drumming Song'. The fashion and the colors of the video are spot on. Enjoy!

A Peaceful Oasis

Welcome to my new blog! This blog will be abut my love of fashion, music and what else?- Coffee! My goal is to do one post a day, although life always gets in the way. I'll strive for 5 a week.

For my first post, I wanted to share one of my new discoveries:
Oasis

This English retailer is a mix between H&M and Urban Outfitters. Some of their items are questionable, and a few overpriced, but there are some really good finds on their online shop. My favorite pieces are all accessories. Here are a few:

I imagine myself running to catch the train in the early morning with this lightweight bag strapped around me. Now, time to find a wallet that can fit in that. I would need to downsize a lot of what's normally in my giant bags.

The hexagon watch is such an interesting shape that you don't see too often. I usually like my jewelry the bigger the better, but I could rock this watch with a bunch of bangles to add the bulk.

Can we talk about these sandals? I want them right now (one in every color!). I could wear these until it's cold again and they're falling apart. You may see these in a later post (on my feet).
